War: athletic and military
If there is any good side to the 2026 war against Iran it may be that it finally exhausts any serious engagement with the pronouncements of the current White. House leadership, including its attrmpl to use the 2026 World Cup of football aka soccer as a marketing campaign. War, even when regional, not world, “trumps” sport and knocks the tournament out of the news cycle for sm a few days. People die in wars, however flimsy their rationale and that at least should undermine the effort of FIFA and tge US president to sportswash the biggest sporting event on planet earth. An already tarnished tournament is likely forever degraded for all but sports fans and will occupy a more mature position in global consciousness. Let the scandal plagued aspirations of global football managers forever henceforth return to the sport’s historic role of opium for the masses.
