APPAREL BRANDS OPERATING IN HONDURAS CALL FOR PEACEFUL RESOLUTION OFCOUP
A group of apparel brands sourcing products from Honduras havewritten to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressing theirconcern over the situation in Honduras following June's military coup.The brands, which include Nike, Gap and The adidas Group, called forthe situation to be "resolved through peaceful, democratic dialogue,rather than through military action." » Read more [4]

SUPPORT THAI AND FILIPINO WORKERS AGAINST TRIUMPHABUSES Triumph International supplier, Body Fashion Thailand, announced onJune 29th that it would lay off half of its 4200 workers. In the Philippines 1660 Triumph garment workers will lose their jobs by theend of August due to closures. In both countries Triumph has failed to conduct transparentnegotiations with factory workers' unions as required by internationallabour standards. On June 28, 2009, the democratically-elected President of Honduras,Manuel Zelaya, was kidnapped, put on a plane, and exiled by theHonduran military.
