Three Wobbly musicians performing April 3rd, 2009 in Toronto
Smokey Dymny recently send the following notice through the IWW email list:
Get it while you can.
The IWW gig at the Steelworker's Hall is on Friday April 3 at 8pm. Tickets $20 sliding scale to $10. LCBO.
Anne Feeney, IWW from the U.S. - Utah Phillips called her the best labour singer in North America.
Dr. Joey Only, IWW from Vancouver - the best young punk-folk-country outrageous Wobbly out there. He recently drove across Canada and planted hundreds of white crosses on the lawns of the riding offices of the major Conservative MPs to represent the number of folks whose lives were saved by the Safe Injection Site in Vancouver. (The Conservatives were trying to close the place.) Planted those 350 crosses on the front walk of Parliament and then sang his songs.
This is the only gig in North America in decades with three Wobblies playing at once!
We may have unannounced local back-up musicians dropping out of their other gigs early that night just to play along with these folks.
