TORONTO RECOGNIZES FOSSIL FOOLS DAY IN SUPPORT OF WET'SUWET'EN FIRST NATION

A small BC first nation came to town on Saturday April 1, 2023 in the form of a protest against the Coastal Gas Link (CGL) construction on their territory. Small it may be, but the Torontonians who came out in solidarity with Wet'suwet'en first nation understood that whatever happens there happens here too. We have only one earth and the Wetsuwete'n struggle is our struggle. It was suitably on April 1st, from now on to be known as "fossil fools day" that the demonstration took place, with TorontotheBetter members attending in solidarity with protesters outside pipeline funder Royal Bank of  Canada's (RBC) corporate headquarters. "Land back" and "shut it down"were the chants. A better Toronto needs a Wetsuwet'en' liberated from fossil fuel exploration.

THE FACTS: $275 million invested by RBC in the Coastal Gas Link, 585 million lbs of CO2 emitted daily.
